Custom Web Development

Custom web development in San Diego

Some businesses need software with a website attached, not a website with a form on it. Customer portals, booking engines, quoting tools, gated content, dashboards, commerce, integrations with the systems you already run on.

That's this tier: designed from scratch, built on a typed backend with a real database, tested where failure would cost you money, and delivered with a staging environment your team can review in before anything reaches customers.

From $2,999+ · 6–12 weeks · Unlimited within the agreed scope

Who it's for

Is custom web development what you need?

Your customers need accounts

Authentication, roles, permissions, member dashboards, gated content, subscription billing — anything where who is logged in changes what they see.

An internal process is being run out of a spreadsheet

It worked until volume caught up with it. We've built exactly this — see the AL Lending case study for a lending book that outgrew Google Sheets.

The site has to talk to other systems

Stripe, HubSpot, Salesforce, Airtable, Shopify, or your own internal API — wired up, error-handled, and tested rather than bolted on with a plugin.

You've been told a builder platform can't do it

Custom logic, real data models, and performance requirements are where no-code tools stop. This tier starts where they stop.

Common add-ons

  • Ongoing retainer from $900/month
  • Native mobile companion app (scoped separately)
  • SOC 2-aligned hardening review

These are founding-client rates. We're a new studio building our portfolio, so the work is priced below what it will be once that portfolio is established — the standard of build is not what's discounted.

How it runs

From first call to live in 6–12 weeks

The same four stages every project goes through, sized to this tier.

  1. 01

    Technical discovery

    1–2 weeks

Data model, user roles, integrations, and the flows that carry money or risk. Output is a written scope and a fixed quote against it.

  2. 02

    Design system and key flows

    2–3 weeks

A documented component library plus clickable versions of the flows that matter most, reviewed before the backend is committed to.

  3. 03

    Build with staging

    3–8 weeks

Typed API layer, relational database with migrations, background jobs, structured logging, automated tests over the expensive paths. Weekly demos on a full staging environment.

  4. 04

    Launch and technical handover

    1 week

Production cutover, monitoring, then a session with your team over the codebase, CI pipeline, and infrastructure. 90 days of bug fixes follow.

Straight answers

When you don't need a custom build

We'd rather point you at the cheaper option now than sell you the wrong one.

You need a professional marketing site, not an application

If nobody logs in and nothing is calculated, a business website at $999 does the job — and we'll say so before you spend more.

You're validating the idea before committing

A $450 landing page is a cheaper way to find out whether people want it, and it doesn't get wasted if they do.

FAQ

Before you get in touch

More questions are answered on the pricing page.

Because the honest answer depends on what's behind the login. $2,999 is where custom work starts; the final number comes out of technical discovery and is fixed before any code is written. Nothing gets billed that wasn't in that scope unless you ask for something new.
