DirectionsAbout this clinic
Golden is our smallest clinic and the one people drive furthest to reach, which tells you what it is for. Juliet Fenwick took it over at opening after three years in Boulder and has turned it into the running and mountain-bike clinic for the western foothills.
The gait lab is the reason. Ninety-minute sessions, 240 frames a second, and a therapist who reads twelve weeks of your training log before she looks at a single frame — because the form problem is almost always a volume problem wearing a form problem's clothes. In summer, roughly half the caseload arrived by bike.
What’s different here
- Running and gait analysis is the clinic's centre of gravity
- Mountain-bike injury caseload — wrists, shoulders, and collarbones
- Smallest clinic in the group: two therapists, no waiting-room crowd
Free ninety-minute street parking on Washington and the free public lot on 8th, a two-minute walk. On a summer Saturday, take the lot — Washington is impossible.
RTD route 16 stops on Washington at 8th. The Clear Creek bike path passes the back of the building; there is a rack and a hose for washing the mud off first.
- Private treatment room
- Force plate & handheld dynamometry
- Full squat rack and platform
- 240fps gait treadmill
- Step-free access from the lot
- Spanish spoken on site
- Dedicated gait lab
- Bike fit assessment
- Creek-path outdoor capture
What Golden treats.
5 of the group's six service lines run here. The gaps are deliberate rather than accidental, and the clinic that does run them is one click away.
Sports rehab & return to sport
Getting you back to the actual sport, with a number that says you're ready.

Protocol-faithful rehab that talks to your surgeon, from week one to discharge.
Full descriptionRunning & gait analysis
240fps video, a treadmill, and a plan that doesn't just say 'rest'.
Golden's gait sessions are the group's reference standard: 90 minutes, treadmill capture front and side, and — when the weather allows — a second capture on the Clear Creek path, because a treadmill is not a trail and everyone knows it.

Who you'll see at Golden.
You get one of these people for the full hour, every visit — and the same one for your whole plan of care. Several of them also cover another clinic, so a move mid-plan doesn't mean starting again with a stranger.
Juliet Fenwick
Lead Therapist, Golden
Juliet took over Golden at opening after three years in Boulder, and she has quietly turned it into the clinic trail runners drive to. Her gait sessions run ninety minutes because she reviews twelve weeks of your training log before she looks at a single frame of video — the form problem is usually a volume problem.

Ran Leadville twiceRowan McElhinney
Physical Therapist
Rowan splits between Golden and Longmont and does the group's mountain-bike and trades caseload — wrists, shoulders, and lower backs belonging to people who were never going to take four weeks off and should be planned for accordingly. Trained in the UK, so expect the metric system without warning.

Rides Apex weeklyDana Whitlock
Founder & Clinical Director
Dana started Foothold in 900 square feet on Pearl Street after eleven years in a hospital system that wanted sixteen patients a day from her. Board-certified in sports, she still carries a caseload two and a half days a week — mostly post-op knees and the athletes other clinics have already discharged twice. She wrote the group's return-to-sport criteria and refuses to soften them.

Skis badly, on purposeBenjamín Arriaga
Physical Therapist
Ben came up through collegiate soccer and treats a lot of it — hamstrings, groins, and the ankle sprains that everyone assumes resolve on their own. He runs the group's strength-and-performance block in Denver, and he is the therapist to ask for if you would like the rehab conducted mostly in Spanish.

The clinic is pre-filled — you only need to change it if you would rather be seen somewhere else, and the service list will change with it.
Your first visit
Bring the boring paperwork
Photo ID, insurance card, and your referral or surgical protocol if you have one. If you do not have a referral, come anyway — Colorado is a direct-access state.
Dress for the joint
Shorts for anything below the waist, a tank or sports bra for shoulders and necks. If you are here about running, bring the shoes you actually run in, worn and unwashed.
Ninety minutes for the evaluation
The first appointment is longer than the rest. History, hands-on exam, baseline testing on the plate and the dynamometer, and you leave with the plan and the discharge criteria in writing.
You will start treatment that day
Nobody gets evaluated and sent home with a photocopy. You will do real work in the first hour and leave with two or three things to do before the next visit — not a booklet of twelve.
Golden does not run a workers' compensation line. If you have a claim number, book at Longmont — Marcus handles those directly and the paperwork is the whole difficulty. We will make the booking for you if you have already rung us here.
Every clinic is step-free from the parking lot, has an accessible restroom and a private treatment room, and has at least one height-adjustable table. Say the word when you book and we will hold a ground-floor bay. English and Spanish at every clinic. ASL interpretation with five business days' notice, at no cost to you.
Who drives to Golden.
Most of this clinic’s patients come from Golden, Applewood, Lakewood and the surrounding towns. If you are further out, it is still worth ringing — we’d rather tell you honestly that another Foothold clinic, or someone else entirely, is a better use of your time.

Questions before you book at Golden?
Ring (303) 555-0195 and someone at this clinic — not a call centre — will pick up. Or send the group a message and it will reach the desk that can actually answer it.
